March 8 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm MST

$108.00 – $230.00
  • Six 2-hour ONLINE sessions on Saturdays in March and April
  • Dates: March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29, April 5 and April 12, 2025
  • Time: 11 AM - 1 PM Mountain Time
  • Audience: ALL Are Welcome- NO prior experience in art, meditation, or Karuna is required.

Extensive research shows that incorporating play into everyday life is a key to resilience, especially as we age. But many of us are reluctant to play as adults, and we give it little time. In addition, people across cultures over millennia have drawn on the wisdom of the elements and the natural world for support - something we also tend to forget. In this class, Miriam and Sandra will join creative play and work with the elements to help us receive guidance, tap into appreciation, and open us up when we might be inclined to close down. At the intersection of art, play, and nature, we will experience collective joy as we create new possibilities together.

All are invited to join this online program. It is suited for you whether you are curious about the topic, are considering the Karuna Training certificate program, or are a program graduate. No art experience required. Come one come all!

In this program, we will introduce time-tested contemplative and creative methods, combining them with dharma teachings, encouraging us to stretch in new directions with lots of support. Practices include, but are not limited to:

  • guided meditation, movement, and ritual
  • photography, collage, writing, and other media
  • speaking from the heart, microscopic truth, and Tibetan Buddhist teachings on the elements.

We will offer practices to play with and readings during the time between the weekly online gatherings for those who wish to dive deeper. There will be an opportunity to respond to prompts on a private channel in an online membership site built on the Circle platform - for classmates and faculty to share.

Individual Meetings with Sandra and Miriam will be available upon request.

We’re excited about this class and hope you will take away a renewed spirit, creative inspiration, community, tools, and frameworks for continuing with the elements and art.

On Karuna Training

In Karuna Training, we find strength in the intrinsic openness, wisdom, and compassion available to us as human beings. In this 6 week online course, we will have time to reflect and discuss how we can draw on our innate wisdom as a resource in an ongoing way. The program is open to everyone and will include guided meditation, an experience of the Karuna teachings, and a discussion of upcoming Karuna Training offerings.

The word Karuna means compassion in Sanskrit. Karuna Training brings together a community of people who trust the world’s wisdom to awaken our compassionate hearts. We can learn to resource ourselves and integrate our experiences to live a more empowered life. The world needs all of our compassion, health, and wisdom.

For 28 years, Karuna Training has offered time-tested mindfulness and compassion-based programs in Europe and North America.

A cohort is forming for the next Karuna Training program starting in 2025. Learn more about the Basic Training Program here.
