Now its possible to attend one, two, or three of the Basic Karuna Training In-Person Retreats, and participate in Karuna Training as an elder. The curriculum changes all the time, and every retreat at Ari Bhöd is unique and empowered. All 2024 Basic program retreats will occur at Ari Bhöd, in Tehanchipi, CA.

1: Retreat KTB1: Foundations in Contemplative Psychology
Saturday, September 28 - Friday, October 4, 2024
Review the foundations of Contemplative Psychology as we launch the new community. Aimless wandering with elements, the Mandala is introduced, and sitting meditation is the emphasis. Review the Four Foundations of Mindfulness as you deepen in the practices of Speaking from the Heart, Body, Speech, and Mind, and Compassionate Exchange
This retreat will seem familiar, small groups practices compassionate exchange, with Shine the Jewel practice included. Graduates will have the opportunity to do Maitri Space Awareness with the option to intensify one or two Buddha Families, if you choose.
3: Retreat 3 - KTB 8: Maitri Celebration

Maitri Space Awareness, where graduates are encouraged to intensify one Buddha Family. While participants in the Basic will be presenting their projects to one another, graduates who attend will have their own cohort to deepen in requested methods of Contemplative Psychology.
Costs
Costs for Ari Bhöd Retreats are additional to program costs
The more retreats you commit to the cheaper they cost: One retreat $750. each + Housing costs.
Two retreats $600. each + Housing costs.
Three retreats $500. each + Housing costs.
Note if you wish to repeat Karuna Training in its entirety, meaning attending the Online programing in addition to the retreats, the cost is ½ price: $3500.
Prices for Ari Bhöd include room and Board for six nights and two half days:
Camping $600.00 (bring your own tent)
Glamping $675.00 (stand up tent provided)
Dormitory $750.00 (shared units bathhouse)
Note: Ari Bhöd prices may raise over the period of the course due to rising costs.
Payment
Karuna Training offers monthly payment plans without interest; however we do not offer the completion certificate until participants have fully paid.
Some scholarships are available on a needs basis. Continuing Education Units are available for an additional cost of $150 for the entire program. Please register your license number at registration.
Each applicant must go through a personal interview with Karuna faculty before being fully admitted into the program.
