To dance with our ancestors present means to dance with them as they are present in our bodies.
Our lineage and their life experiences are alive in our bodies, speech, and mind. Most of this information remains unconscious, while some experiences await a warm-hearted descendant's hearing. We listen to our lineage with the aspiration to liberate our ancestral line from patterns that continue to repeat, creating tendencies of confusion for multiple generations.
As a descendant, our lineages can be experienced in us as a sense of guilt, shame, need for excessive control, free-roaming worries, unworthiness, revenge, rejection, etc. Feelings and emotions that don't really match in intensity with our everyday experience and often feel like a strong impediment coming out of nowhere.
With maitri, intention, imagination, and evoking the body's wisdom, we will explore a poetic free dance with the intent to access and release our ancestors' burdens. With their permission and blessing, we can lighten and enrich our paths and liberate theirs.
What you can expect:
- Come comfortably dressed with some space to move in your environment

- Expect images and information to arise that you cannot make sense of right away
- To learn a new way of meeting our ancestors through our own bodies
What you will come away with:
- A deepening of an embodied expression toward our ancestors
- Fragments of information for later contemplation
- A sense of belonging, and inner peace as a community
Luchy López lives in Madrid, Spain and she’s the mother of three grown women. With a performing arts background both academic and professional, and after a healing journey from cancer (1997) – she committed to sharing how theater, dance, color, a relationship with space, and unseen guides around us helped her heal. In 2006 she created A Corazón abierto (ACa) a ritualistic experience of self inquiry and healing of the bonds with our relatives and vibrant space, through free dance/movement and mind-body imagining. ACa is performed with long flowing skirts that she called faldAlas. FaldAlas is a project to cultivate and spread compassion.
Luchy has been a Buddhist practitioner started in 1991. She completed the graduate program of Karuna Training in Spain in 2017. Karuna brought her into a new meaning of the word commitment and gave her work a new dimension including the power of listening/speaking from the heart – along with the wisdom of the Five Buddha families. Luchy learned Alba Emoting from Andrea Bañuelos, a direct student of Susana Bloch, the creatrice of this scientific system. She was given permission to teach and share the work (2019).
